Most Laundry Place locations are open 24/7 for self-service. University Avenue, Fleur Drive, SE 14th Street are open 6:00 AM–midnight (last load typically 10:30 PM) — see each location page for today’s times. Attended drop-off hours are separate from store hours and vary by store.
How many locations do you have?▼
We have 9 Des Moines–metro locations: Merle Hay Road, Beaver Avenue, Clive, South Ankeny, North Ankeny, East 33rd Street, University Avenue, Fleur Drive, SE 14th Street. Find addresses, phones, and live machine status on each location page.
Do you have free WiFi?▼
Yes. Guest WiFi at every store uses network “TheLaundryPlace” with password “Fresh2024”. Credentials are also listed on each location page.
Payments
What payment methods do you accept?▼
We take American Express, Discover, Visa, Mastercard, and cash. At eight FasCard stores you can swipe those cards on the machine reader (a temporary about-twenty-dollar bank hold is an authorization, not a fee) or reload a FasCard at the kiosk. The kiosk takes bills up to twenty dollars and does not give change. East 33rd machines use Laundroworks cards; cash and the same cards load that card at the kiosk, which takes bills up to one hundred dollars and does not give change. Card reloads may include a posted convenience fee; wash & fold drop-off payments do not add a FasCard reload fee. We do not have coin changers — stores are coinless.
Do you have change machines?▼
No. Our stores are coinless and kiosks do not give change. We take American Express, Discover, Visa, Mastercard, and cash. At FasCard stores swipe those cards on the machine reader, or reload a FasCard at the kiosk (bills up to twenty dollars). East 33rd uses a Laundroworks card at the machines, loaded at the kiosk with cash or the same cards (bills up to one hundred dollars).
How do I check my FasCard balance?▼
Use Check Balance on our website, the FasCard mobile app, or the kiosk at any FasCard location. You can also ask an attendant during staffed hours. East 33rd balances are on Laundroworks, not FasCard.
Services
How does wash & fold drop-off work?▼
Bring sorted laundry during attended hours at participating stores. We weigh, wash, dry, and fold — pricing is per pound with a posted minimum. Everyday clothing wash & fold is in-store drop-off. Pick up when ready; SMS or email notifications are available at participating stores.
Do you offer pickup and delivery?▼
Pickup & delivery is for bulky items (pillows, rugs, and similar misc pieces) from Merle Hay Road, Clive, and South Ankeny. Everyday per-pound wash & fold is an in-store drop-off service — not door-to-door. See /services/pickup-delivery for pricing and booking.
Do you offer dry cleaning?▼
No. We offer water-based laundry only: self-service washers and dryers, wash & fold drop-off, and stain treatment where available. We do not provide solvent dry cleaning or wedding-gown specialty dry cleaning.
Self-service
Do you sell detergent?▼
Yes — vending machines at every store carry detergent, fabric softener, bleach, dryer sheets, snacks, and drinks. You can also bring your own supplies. Prices are posted on each vending machine.
Machines
What size washers do you have?▼
Self-service washers range from 20 lb up to 135 lb (at SE 14th Street). Large 60–135 lb washers handle comforters, sleeping bags, and bulky bedding in a single load — 120 lb machines are available at Clive, North Ankeny, University Avenue. Each location page lists that store’s largest washer and live machine availability.
Can I reserve a machine before I arrive?▼
At participating FasCard locations you can request a soft hold / notify from the location page: verify by text or email, then scan your QR when you arrive. Holds expire if unused — see reservation terms on the site for the current hold window. Live machine status shows what’s free before you leave home.
Promotions
Do you offer free dry days?▼
Select locations offer Free Dry on posted days with a paid wash and loyalty card where required. Participating stores and windows change — check the location page or ask staff for today’s offer.
Policies
What if I lose something at the store?▼
Tell the store as soon as you can (call the location or speak with an attendant during staffed hours) with a description of the item, when you were there, and your laundry card number if you used one — the card helps us match your swipe time to security camera footage (we only keep the last four digits on file). Our team will check and follow up. At 24/7 stores you may also return and look yourself. We do not publish a fixed lost-and-found retention schedule online.
What if a machine malfunctions?▼
Use another available machine and report the issue to an attendant when one is on site, or contact the store by phone. FasCard / Laundroworks credits for verified machine failures are handled by staff (larger credits may need approval). We do not auto-refund to your bank card from the machine.
Help
How can I get help online?▼
Use website chat for common questions (hours, WiFi, balance, machine status). For store-specific issues, call the location phone on that store’s page. Staffed drop-off help is available during attendant hours only.
